Walker Wayland community focus attracts Melbourne firm
Australia’s fastest-growing accounting network has further expanded in Melbourne with Advantage Advisors joining the group.
Advantage Advisors had been a member of rival network Bentleys.
Partner Martin Phelan said the firm decided to move to Walker Wayland to take advantage of the network’s powerful co-operative structure.
“We recognised that our best opportunity for growth and to improve service to our clients is with a group that works closely together,” said Phelan. “We see the Walker Wayland community as a significant step up.
“Each firm in the Walker Wayland community contributes to the group, bolstering the strength of each individual firm.
“They also have strong committees sharing information on tax, practice management, audit and IT.
Mr Phelan said Walker Wayland’s international focus was also important for his firm.
“Walker Wayland Australasia has a quality international focus,” he said. “The community includes three firms in New Zealand and its association with the dynamic BKR International organisation gives us access to around 150 additional firms in 70 countries around the world. This allows us to better support our clients who have international offices and affiliates.
“We developed international connections through Bentleys but lost momentum after the group decided to change its global affiliation.”
Walker Wayland Australasia chairman Grant Allsopp welcomed Advantage Advisors into the community.
“The team at Advantage shares our commitment to community,” said Allsopp. “With six principals and more than 20 staff, they will add valuable assets to our network.”
Advantage Advisors has a strong history in the Melbourne business community, serving clients since 1925.
“We focus on the SME and corporate sectors as well as individual clients,” said Phelan.
