Importance of licensing arrangements

Scott Arnold from Walker Wayland’s Sydney member firm, Walker Wayland NSW, explains the importance of licensing arrangements and how these underpin financial planning advice across the Walker Wayland network.

“Financial planning is a key service offering across the Walker Wayland network and as with many other services offered by the network, these have evolved through strong relationships with expert providers in each state,” says Scott.

“Licensed arrangements with financial planning services providers are not only important for each individual member firm but our clients too.

“Generally, these licensed financial planning groups are backed by a large financial institution with the comfort of access to fully resourced research services and professionals that are focused, educated and experienced in understanding specific investment areas.

“Importantly there is a limitation of scope with individual license arrangements – this means that in Walker Wayland NSW, for example, financial planning advice excludes advising on property investments.

“Clients can be confident that the advice they receive is provided within strict investment advice parameters and that the licence groups do not impose their direct related investment product on the Walker Wayland network.

“Licensing also provides support in development of the financial planning industry and direct contact into networking and training,” Scott says.

Current license arrangements include:

  • Walker Wayland NSW: AXA (Charter)
  • Walker Wayland SA:
    Count Financial Group
  • Clements Dunne & Bell VIC:
    Count Financial Group
  • Skaines Reeves Jones QLD: Guardian
  • Walker Wayland WA: under selective arrangements
